About Kleenex/Liliput

Along with the likes of the Slits and the Raincoats, Swiss post-punkers LiLiPUT were among the first bands to rewrite punk's rulebook from the perspective of its female participants. Originally named Kleenex, the band was forced to change its name following a copyright lawsuit. LiLiPUT played a primitive, herky-jerky style of punk not dissimilar to that of many of their contemporaries; however, the band also fearlessly indulged in a bold form of experimental pop pastiche. They proved to be an influence on numerous D.I.Y. bands unfazed by pop and rock's often rigid sonic and stylistic traditions. Their records were nearly impossible to find until the Kill Rock Stars label reissued their complete discography in the early 2000s.
