Biography

This one-off project was put together by US producer Jim Steinman (b. 1 November 1948, Claremont, California, USA) to record his rock opera, Original Sin. The band featured Roy Bittan (piano), Jeff Bova (synthesizers), Jim Bralower (drums), Eddie Martinez (guitar) and Steve Buslowe (bass). Utilizing a series of guest vocalists, who included Elaine Caswell, Ellen Foley, Gina Taylor, Deliria Wild, Holly Sherwood and Laura Theodore, Original Sin was a grandiose concept album themed on sex. Featuring classical interludes, spoken introductions, atmospheric ballads and breathtaking rock ‘n’ roll, it was almost too ambitious. Despite state-of-the-art production (courtesy of Steinman), it never received the sort of recognition afforded his Meat Loaf projects.
