About Ruby Amanfu

Ruby Amanfu's career has been full of twists and turns. She recorded So Now the Whole World Knows (1998) while still in high school. A few years later, a song she co-wrote ("Sugah") became a U.K. hit, prompting her to sign with Polydor, where she released Smoke and Honey (2003). She recorded with Sam Brooker as Sam & Ruby and competed as part of an a cappella group onThe Sing-Off. Amanfu collaborated and wrote for other artists, placing songs with Kelly Clarkson and singing backup for Wanda Jackson. After a solo EP, she sang on Jack White's "Love Interruption" and joined White's touring band. Standing Still (2015), her third album, was a set of atmospheric and unusual cover songs. ~ Timothy Monger
