About Vicky Leandros

The winner of the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest, where she became the latest in a long line of foreign vocalists to represent the tiny principality of Luxembourg, Vicky Leandros made her first recording in 1965 at the age of 13. (She debuted at Eurovision two years later, in 1967.) Her singles were recorded in many different languages, making her one of the first pan-European superstars. Her fame soon spread to Japan, South Africa, the Middle East, and Canada, then reached the U.K. in 1972 as "Apres Toi" (translated into English as "Come What May") won Eurovision. She continued to hit the charts in Benelux, France, and Germany well into the 2000s. ~ Dave Thompson
