Greenwich, south-east London. Five bodies have been found, all young women, all ritualistically murdered, dumped on wasteland near the Millennium Dome. When a post-mortem examination reveals a singular, horrific signature linking the victims, officers realise that they are on the trail of the most dangerous offender known to the force: a sexual serial killer. Detective Inspector Jack Caffery, young, driven, unshockable, he now employs every weapon forensic science can offer, he knows time is limited; this sadistic killer will strike again.
Very graphic and not for the feint hearted. Superb plot, good characters. The narrator/reader does have a few problems when 'doing' women - however, it is still superb!
Birdman - excellent and very good value.
I thought this book was excellent, although I became stressed and very cross with some of the characters at times, which shows how convincing I found the storyline. Had I read this in paper/hardback I would have been unable to put it down. I didn't find the reader at all offputting, even though I did notice a couple of words seemed to have been misread. I found his voice to be easy and pleasant to listen to and his female voices, on the whole, not too bad and they didn't interfere with my enjoyment.
Would have got at least 4 stars if they had employed a decent narrator. Good storyline and plot twists ruined by annoying camp voice when trying to do women.
