Following the shocking revelations of DARK DAYS, get ready for the fifth instalment of the bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series – guaranteed to contain at least 40% humour, 50% action, and 100% thrills… "The blonde girl with the black lips turned to Valkyrie. 'We know,' she said. 'We've seen the future. We know you're going to kill the world…'" Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain are back – just in time to see their whole world get turned upside down…While they struggle to protect a known killer from an unstoppable assassin, Valkyrie is on a secret mission of her own. This quest, to prevent her dark and murderous destiny, threatens to take her to the brink of death and beyond. And then the body-snatching Remnants get loose, thousands of twisted souls who possess the living like puppets, and they begin their search for a being powerful enough to lead them. Facing such insurmountable odds, Skulduggery, Valkyrie, Ghastly and Tanith can trust no one. Not even each other…
BRING BACK RUPERT DEGAS (It wont happen though!)
I am so dissapointed that they have changed the narrator! It has been the same person in all of the previous books. Valkyrie sounds so different and as far as Skulduggery's voice is concerned its not the Skulduggery I know. It wont happen but I have to say BRING BACK Rupert Degas!! It so affects a story when they change the narrators. I cant seem to get into the story now....I will stick it out though
Mortal Coil review
Given how exciting Dark Days was and how well narated by Rupert Degas Mortal Coil falls well short of the previous book not only for the story which is weak and rampling, but the new narator isn't good at all. Whereas Rupert Degas gave Stephanie a sassy edge now , in Mortal Coil, she sounds like a whiney brat. Skulduggery , who in Dark Days and the previous books narated by Degas, was smart, intelligent and funny now with the new narator seems dull and lifeless.
Despite the politics of the sanctuary, the problems Stephanie faces and everything else this book seems so disjointed. Listening to the previous books you almost have to wonder whether this is the same author. Sadly it is. Let's just hope the next book is better, because if it isn't this is one person who'll give up on this previously entertaining series
