Bowdlerized
Please please please will somebody read the poems that Dickinson actually wrote and not these terrible appropriations of them - it's 2008, not 1898.
Why does nobody read from the Franklin edition? Because it's cheaper to read from the presumably copyright-expired 19th Century collections of her work, which were tailored for the perceived public taste of the time by altering the language of most poems to something more "seemly" and "poetically correct". These versions should have died a death fifty years ago, but no - here they are alive and well and being read aloud and sold as the genuine article.
Do the poet justice and read the words she actually wrote!
