by Ron Kettle, Richard Ranft

Open iTunes to Buy

A very popular audio guide which helps to identify the birds that come to our gardens. This download features top-quality recordings of the typical songs and calls of the fifty-two species most commonly found in British gardens. The perfect introduction to learning and identifying bird sounds in your garden.

i expected this to have running commentry alongside the birdsongs whistle identifiying what type of bird i am listening to. as the title suggests "guide to " british birds.but spoken word at all.just birdsong. so i still cant identify what bird i can hear in the garden. i could listen to this stuff for free on dab radio on "birdsong" station. missleading title i think.very poor.

Surprisingly good!

My baby loves to hear birdsong every morning and I bought it with this purpose in mind for her to hear at other times esp. as people suggested that there was no commentary.

Actually I find that it's a high quality recording and each bird is named e.g. 'House sparrow' before the recording is played. It is also accompanied by a digital booklet which lists the 52 birds recorded. So our baby is very happy with this guide as are my partner and I as we can now recognise some of the birdsongs that we hear outside our windows and in the woods. I am surprised by the negative feedback of some others as this is a good guide or at least for non-bird specialists like me who want a high quality recording and a 'brief name that bird' kind of guide.

Not for identification!

This is essentially a continuous solid hour of bird song clips, but with nothing to tell you which birds they are. Might be nice as a relaxation tape, but hopeless (at least in this version from iTunes) if you want to learn to identify birds by their song.
