Make your users fall in love with your site via the precepts packed into this brief, charming book by MailChimp user experience design lead Aarron Walter. From classic psychology to case studies, highbrow concepts to common sense, Designing for Emotion demonstrates accessible strategies and memorable methods to help you make a human connection through design.
The book combines psychology and design in a way that offers refreshing ways of approaching emotionally engaging design. It is well written and structured. The only thing, I would question is the choice of MailChimp as the example for design personas, as most websites won't be using a mascot in this direct way. Talking about creating a persona that is more indirect would have been interesting and maybe more generally applicable. As it is, these conclusions have to be drawn by the reader — which is still very helpful.
It was a very good read and made me question my design process and approach in an interesting new way.
