The Newsflesh Trilogy: Book 1

This book is available for download with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device. Books can be read with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beaten the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

Now, twenty years after the Rising, bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives - the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will get out, even if it kills them.

From Publishers Weekly

08 March 2010 – Urban fantasist Seanan McGuire (Rosemary and Rue) picks up a new pen name for this gripping, thrilling, and brutal depiction of a postapocalyptic 2039. Twin bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason and their colleague Buffy are thrilled when Sen. Peter Ryman, the first presidential candidate to come of age since social media saved the world from a virus that reanimates the dead, invites them to cover his campaign. Then an event is attacked by zombies, and Ryman's daughter is killed. As the bloggers wield the newfound power of new media, they tangle with the CDC, a scheming vice presidential candidate, and mysterious conspirators who want more than the Oval Office. Shunning misogynistic horror tropes in favor of genuine drama and pure creepiness, McGuire has crafted a masterpiece of suspense with engaging, appealing characters who conduct a soul-shredding examination of what's true and what's reported.

Great book

A great take on a zombie story. The characters were written with feeling and you felt you had known them all your life.the scene at the end between brother and sister made me cry, not what you expect from a zombie story!

Total rubbish!

As a great fan of zombie books and having just read, "The Strain" which was great, I had high hopes for, "Feed". What a disappointment. Basically it is about an Uber-cool, hi tech, "Right on", Brady Bunch, style family of news gatherers, set in a post zombie infected world. No, I am not joking! The characters are so cliched that you start feeling queasy after about 20 pages. The narrator is an ever so cool and hip, slightly rough at the edges, "Only ever wears pants", hard but fair, trail bike riding, blogging, girl. The only things missing from this character is she doesn't have a cigar stub in her gob, an M16 strapped to her back and a couple of Magnum 44's around her waist. Her brother is a "Dumb" baggy pants wearing, Zombie poking, dude, with a heart of gold. In the Armoured News vehicle, (No, I am not jesting) we have , a "Cute blonde", slightly dumb, but all the same hi- tech genius babe and then we have ever so supportive, mom and dad. They all live in a super hi-tech house which wouldn't be amiss at a NASA research station. After reading about 50 pages of this drivel, I decided to thumb through another hundred pages until I stopped dead in horror as I read line, something like, "Hey guys, guess what? We just got the Presidential Campaign, let's go out and celebrate, ya'all!". If I had to re-write this book I'd have the whole cast served with fries and salad and eaten by the zombies in the first chapter!
