George R.R. Martin is the author of fourteen novels, including five volumes of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, several collections of short stories and numerous screen plays for television drama and feature films. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Story great, typesetting AWFUL
I already own this book in print, and this version is clearly not made from the same typeset as the printed version as it is atrocious. There is a mistake every couple of pages at times that makes it look as though the paper copy was scanned and OCR'd. "Bum" instead of "Burn" for example. There doesn't seem to be any way to report this sort of thing, hence complaining in this review.
The above aside the story is great, and would be a five star rating were it not so irritating to read in this edition. Others might not care so much about the mistakes, but they particularly irritate me.
Gripping
I will admit, I came to the series late having been drawn in by the first couple of episodes, but have since allowed it to take over my life completely. I am now on book four and can't wait for the fifth book to be published next week.
The story is fantastic. It takes twists and turns I never expected and has characters that are deeply engaging. I won't give anything else away, but if you liked the TV show, the books are definitely for you.
