A definite hit!
My son loved these stories, the brief animation at the end was a definite draw. He happily volunteered to read more than one of these at a sitting while is very reluctant to read normally. We have bought later ones in the series - hope they convert more of this series of books to iBooks. Would have been 5 stars except I found some of the controls a bit too sensitive - kept bringing up the menu or skipping pages by accident. Practice might help but if your child needs a finger/ pencil under words it can be a bit tricky.
I can't download it
I know it's not the latest iPad but it was only last years version but I am unable to download this.
Fantastic for bringing phonics alive!
I used this with some beginner readers I teach on a 1:1 basis. They loved the quirky illustrations and the ratio of pictures to text is fantastic for beginner readers. The fact that the children can sound out words they do not know is invaluable for ensuring a positive reading experience, whilst at the same time helping secure sound/letter correspondence. A great resource for beginner readers to use at home or at school. Would definitely recommend.
