Publisher Description

MINDFULNESS reveals a set of simple yet powerful practices that can be incorporated into daily life to help break the cycle of unhappiness, stress, anxiety and mental exhaustion and promote genuine joie de vivre. It's the kind of happiness that gets into your bones. It seeps into everything you do and helps you meet the worst that life can throw at you with new courage. The book is based on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). MBCT revolves around a straightforward form of mindfulness meditation which takes just a few minutes a day for the full benefits to be revealed. MBCT has been clinically proven to be at least as effective as drugs for depression and it is recommended by the UK's National Institute of Clinical Excellence - in other words, it works. More importantly it also works for people who are not depressed but who are struggling to keep up with the constant demands of the modern world. MINDFULNESS focuses on promoting joy and peace rather than banishing unhappiness. It's precisely focused to help ordinary people boost their happiness and confidence levels whilst also reducing anxiety, stress and irritability.

Accessible and doable. Great step into Mindfullness

I discovered Mindfullness a couple of years ago when on a whim I purchased Mindfullness For Depression (co authored by Williams). That book is fantastic and a landmark for me. I'd been battling low mood for years and finally this book was making sense and helping me to change my perceptions. However I found it difficult to dedicate the time required to the actual meditation side and after several attempts gave up. This book however is almost an identical course but is more general, slim-lined and more user friendly making it much more achievable. After finishing the 8 week course I feel ready to go right back and start again or even attempt the other one. Highly recommended as a intro to Mindfullness practice, it's pragmatic, easy to read, inspirational and full of scientific evidence on the benefits without being too academic. Get the enhanced edition as having the tracks as you practice is invaluable (though you can't put then on iTunes and set up playlists which isn't really a problem it's just not as flexible as one might hope). Enjoy!

Embrace The Now, & Breath

Wonderful guide to assist in all aspects of life.

The guided meditations are great.

I have never tasted chocolate or raisins quite like it, since doing the respective meditations.

Approach mindfulness with an open and engaging mind, and you'll be happier, and relaxed.

Thoroughly recommend this book.
