What do you do when you can't control your feelings for someone? When you know you shouldn't go there? Not even in your head.
Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy - the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.
Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily, must be dangerous. But she's already in too deep. And Jack isn't only dangerous. He is forbidden.
'The latest queen of erotic literature' Sunday Times
'Every kiss, every sexy scene, every word between this pair owned a piece of my soul. I could read this book a hundred times and still react as if it was the first time. The Protector is a top 2016 fave for me.' Audrey Carlan, bestselling author of The Calendar Girl series
I have been lucky enough to get an ARC of The Forbidden, I have just finished it, WOW!!!
I'm still reeling a little, I loved it!
It was real, raw, authentic and witty!
The conflict was heart wrenching, it made it all the more beautifully flawed - which I mean in a good way - it is exactly that 'The Forbidden' and so thought provoking, It was bittersweet and I love both Annie and Jack.
I have loved all of JEM's books but this felt more personal and written from the heart. I laughed and cried, I think I knotted a muscle in my neck from being so tense!
Each character compliments one another and It was so different from This Man, Denied and The Protector.
It was exactly like Jack 'all consuming!' I honestly can't wait for everyone else to read it...
Have to admit after Jesse I have never looked back This Man was compelling but Jack is on par for me...Jesse is the fantasy but Jack is very much real...Sigh...I couldn't put this down. I want to be Annie!
Absolutely loved this story!! Couldn't put it down, read in a day!! Great characters and a great plot!
So many twists and turns
Jodi Ellen Malpas is a new author for me, one I've been wanting to read for quite some time and although the story was good, in my eyes it wasn't exceptional, and for some reason I was expecting exceptional. Maybe I started with the wrong book, a book that I went into blind. The story follows Jack Joseph and Annie Ryan who meet in a bar and spend one of the best nights of their lives together in the knowledge that they will probably never meet each other again. Fate has other plans though, and they are thrown together when their careers have them working on the same project. Annie is an architect and Jack is the contractor chosen by her client. When truths come out, can they still maintain the professionalism needed to get the job done? Do they want to be just co-workers? The writing (told purely from Annie’s POV) had me hooked from the first chapter, I had not idea where this story was going to take me, so many twists and turns. The main context of the story however I did have mixed feelings about, and sadly I can't go into this without a mega spoiler alert, sorry. I did though, absolutely love love love Jack (probably my first mistake, he sucked me in, just like he did with Annie), their chemistry was phenomenal. The supporting characters were brilliant, they were witty, loyal and supportive without letting go of their values. They provided support and advice, sadly it wasn't always adhered to. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
