The Lion

Book 5, John Corey - Number 5 in series

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

Asad Khalil - aka 'The Lion' - is the most dangerous man alive. A ruthless Libyan terrorist with an agenda of death and destruction, he has come to the US to seek out his number one enemy, ex-NYPD homicide detective John Corey.

But Corey is equally intelligent, equally ruthless - and equally determined to wipe Khalil off the face of the earth....

From the first page to the last line, this is a breakneck-paced race against time between two utterly driven men, between good and breathtaking evil. Acclaimed as the finest of Nelson DeMille's John Corey thrillers, it is the perfect introduction or re-introduction to one of the most compelling heroes in fiction.

From Publishers Weekly

10 May 2010 – Asad Khalil (aka "The Lion"), the ruthless Libyan terrorist who menaced ex-NYPD cop John Corey in The Lion's Game (2000), returns to the U.S. 18 months after 9/11, bent on finishing old business in DeMille's fast-paced fifth John Corey thriller (after Wild Fire). In Los Angeles, Khalil dispatches the last of the eight American pilots who dropped the bombs that killed Khalil's family in the historic 1986 raid on Tripoli. In New York City, a daring encounter with Corey, a member of the federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force, and Corey's FBI agent wife, Kate Mayfield, who's also a member of the ATTF, sets the stage for the mano a mano struggle both Corey and Khalil crave. DeMille splices gripping action scenes with accounts of Khalil's horrifically inventive attacks and the ATTF's futile countermeasures. While Corey isn't much more appealing than his foe, those who enjoy starkly black-and-white battles between good and evil will be satisfied.

The Lion

A great finish to this trio-logy of books about the Lion have enjoyed them all.
A tense bloody story, good characters throughout, the scenes set
Beautifully from sky diving to ground zero, tension held all through
The book.
My favourite was the second one, but all three value for money.

9/11 and beyond

I have been waiting on this book since first being introduced to Demille by my brother approximately 4 years hence. Overall it's a good read but not as great as my first encounter with John Corey. I guess he (John) has calmed down a bit since marrying for the second time which has dulled the alchohol induced wit and general bravado. I still recommend it though not as with much vigour as anticipated.

A great follow up!

For anyone one who read and enjoyed the first of the books about the lion, this is a not to miss follow up!
