From #1 New York Times Bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a swoony new standalone romance...
Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.
The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can't risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…
With all the heat, heart and humor readers have come to expect, this newest Lauren Blakely standalone will make you laugh, swoon and feel like you’re falling in love!
Romantic comedy single dad and nanny romance with a perfect mix of humour & sexiness!
The Sexy One is a romantic comedy single dad and nanny romance. While it may be a common theme, Lauren Blakely captures it in such a unique way that it feels completely new as you are reading it and I guarantee you will be flicking the pages as fast as I was to find out how this book will play out. I absolutely loved this book with it’s witty writing styles and heart warming characters.
Abby and Simon are very likeable and relatable characters with some really quirky personality traits that brings them together (who knew wildlife could be so sexy!). There is a slight age difference theme also, he a few years older than her, and raises a couple of normal issues but in terms of attraction, it was never an issues, more being seen as off-limits being Simon’s daughter, Hayden’s, Nanny. When paired together, Abby and Simon were well matched with a clear mutual respect for the other and have an incredible chemistry and connection that clearly evolves as the book progresses. Both characters are strong and independent but also show their more vulnerable sides and very real emotions and flaws, adding a realistic connection between the characters and readers. Using dual points of views adds a complexity to the two main characters allowing us to get a good rounded look and understanding as the book evolves and the sizzling chemistry that quickly heats after the mutual growing feelings that have secretly been developing into something stronger over a period of time finally can’t be held at bay any longer. There is plenty of fun, sexy moments as Abby and Simon explore the chemistry between them and I especially loved Hayden, Simon’s four going five year old daughter and her interactions with both characters.
The Sexy One is exquisitely written with it’s steady pace and perfect flow. The humorous writing style the author manages glides seamlessly into appropriate emotions, whether it be serious or steamy or just playful. The plot is well thought out with very little drama, making this a light hearted read and any tension that arises is handled with a nice maturity by characters rather than with any immature approaches. There is a good steady sensual build up that does not let you down when things crank up to the next level with a just the right amount of steamy scenes in relation to the book where it doesn’t take away from the plot. The sub-characters from previous books by Lauren Blakely help develop the characters a little but you do not need to have read any previous books to follow along as they have no real baring on the characters, allowing this to be read as a standalone with a HEA.
Overall, I highly recommend this single dad & nanny romance that I guarantee will leave you feeling all fuzzy and warm, especially with the bonus epilogue we get to add an extra HEA to Abby and Simon’s story. I loved it!
