“I’m not a man, but that won’t stop me. Just you wait and see.”
It’s 1850 and the Noble family have arrived in Australia to start a new life after scandal drove them from their native England. Headstrong Pippa Noble is determined to reclaim their honour by making her father’s plan for a successful stud farm a reality.
Pippa is immediately spellbound by the untamed outback landscape, although she learns the hard way about the unforgiving nature of the bush – sometimes with devastating consequences. When circumstance leads to Pippa tending the new farm alone, it is the steadfast friendship of neighbouring country estate owner Gil Ashford-Smith that helps her through.
Then an unexpected visitor from England arrives, putting Pippa’s dreams in jeopardy. But she refuses to let go. She will hold onto her family’s land and make her mark, even if it means losing everything else …

Starting a new life

A wonderful insight into the hard life of an immigrant family arriving in Australia from England in the mid 19th century.

After a financial disaster, Gerald leaves England and takes his wife and two daughters to Australia to start a new life. Australia, in the mid 19th century, is an undeveloped country with endless possibilities for anyone strong enough to face such a challenging life. After obtaining land, the family moves to the bush, where they plan to start a horse-breeding farm. Daughter Pippa is the main driving force for the farm to succeed, but Australia is wholly a man's world in those days and she faces repeated disapproval in her determination to be accepted. Thankfully her life isn't all work, sweat, and tears, she also has laughter and love.

A great read!

This book grabs you in the first chapter and does not let you go! The lead character, Pippa, is a fascinating strong, independent and determined woman who is fighting to build a home and business for her family in Australia. The setting is stunning, but the story is not slowed down by long irrelevant descriptions. The main characters are believable and you really want to know what happens to them. I did not want to stop reading, and I highly recommend this novel!

Where Rainbows End and dreams begin

What a compelling and beautiful read. Set In the 1850s. The Noble family head to Australia for a new start.

Pippa is the main character in this book and although the family was once wealthy, the family have been led down a very different pathway of life due to her Father, Gerald's inability to stop gambling. He lost them everything. Their home, their trust and their dignity.

After being lent a rather large sum of money from a family friend, Pippa and her father buy some land in a valley, alongside a creek where they intend to build a stud and a home.

Pippa is a strong willed and very capable woman, completely unheard of in that era. She is adament to go to the valley with her father, to help him build their new life along with their name and reputation - into a dignified family once more. She eventually wears him down so he has no other choice, but to take her with him.

Shortly after work starts, Gerald returns to Sydney, where his wife and Pippa's twin are staying. He leaves, promising he will be back to help with the build soon but falls ill on the journey back. Pippa stays in the valley to oversee the building and construction, along with Robson who runs the project.

Pippa is a very hands on person and not afraid of hard work. With the help of her new and very dear friend, Millie, the first person she meets, Pippa learns all valuable skills for living life in the outback.

A few months into the build, Pippa returns to her family, still living in Sydney, where she learns that her previous love, Grant, is in fact the owner of the land. Pippa is distraught, she thought the land was theirs. She then discovers Grant is due to arrive in Australia, on a boat that very week.

Angry, hurt and annoyed she vows she will do all she can possibly do to stop their new valley home from becoming Grant's.

On a mission of self preservation and trying to destroy Grant's fortune, Pippa learns a valuable life lesson .... but will it ever be enough or will she finally be able to let go of the past and find the happiness she truely deserves....
