Course Description

This course builds on and develops knowledge acquired in Contract A (LAWS11061). Topics include: contracts with a vitiating element such as a mistake; misrepresentation; duress; undue influence; unconscionable contracts and illegal and void contracts. The course also covers the ways in which a contract may be terminated and the remedies available for non-performance of a contract.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
  • Use clear and appropriate legal terminology and style to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concepts of contract law.
  • Demonstrate proficient legal research skills to locate and identify both primary and secondary sources of law.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilise fully all course resources to accomplish the aims of the course.
  • Identify the cause of action, potential parties and relevant area of contract law to a practical problem situation.
  • Define, apply and critically evaluate the relevant area of contract law to a practical problem situation including identifying the obligations, rights and possible remedies available.
  • Construct a coherent answer to a problem question.
