Course Description

Students will understand that:
  • Everything is made of materials
  • Materials are on a continuum of natural to processed
  • Materials have specific physical properties
  • Certain substances react differently under a range of conditions.
Students will be able to:
  • Describe a range of common materials, such as metals or plastics, and their uses
  • Investigate a particular property across a range of materials
  • recognising that substances exist in different states depending on the temperature
  • observing that gases have mass and take up space, demonstrated by using balloons or bubbles
  • exploring the way solids, liquids and gases change under different situations such as heating and cooling
