About the Film

A mesmerizing psychological thriller with a killer whale at its centre, Blackfish is the first film since Grizzly Man to show how nature can get revenge on man when pushed to its limits. Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, a performing killer whale that killed several people while in captivity. Along the way, director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage and emotional interviews to explore the creature’s extraordinary nature, the species’ cruel treatment in captivity, the lives and losses of the trainers and the pressures brought to bear by the mulit-billion dollar sea-park industry. This emotionally wrenching, tautly structured story challenges us to consider our relationship to nature and reveals how little we humans have learned from these highly intelligent and enormously sentient fellow mammals.

Is there such a thing as human soul

Quite simply, obvious. Millions of people (I did once!) go to see such "shows" involving powerful animals that Sea World and others justify as "research". We're brain washed into believing the hype and comments made, our children think it's the right thing to do. This film is a real eye opener, something that needed to be made and shown. Passionate in it's story and sadly shows true human kind in it's worst form, not caring. Hopefully, like I, you will think again before venturing to such a "show".

A real opener! Please please watch this movie!

A definite to see... Simply factual.. Truthful & shocking!

I can't bring to words how shocked I was watching this documentary. It was simply fascinating to watch the real truths of the way killer wales are trained & captivated by sea world. Although deeply distressing to realise just how seriously selfish & carless such a large organisation can be with their employee's & the Wales. It really is such an eye opener when the scientists & ex- employees of sea world explain the conditions & issues leading to the deaths of the innocent trainers. I have personally visited sea world,Florida & Loro park, Tenerife many times growing up as a child on holidays thinking how incredibly amazing these shows were! And how lucky the trainers were...How wrong could I be?! This film was simply jaw dropping a must see for everyone especially those who like me have always thought of Sea World as a magical place to take your children & grandchildren. After seeing this it makes you realise everything just comes down to money & with that comes power... Sea World should be ashamed of their make believe concepts that captivating & breeding such innocent & beautiful creatures is acceptable in today's modern society it's playing with nature & leads to fatality. Watch this movie the makers should be proud .... But I wonder why it hasn't made most big screens?! Maybe Sea World holds those answers! Mmmmmm??!! watch it you won't be disappointed by the true stories told! This needs to reach out to everyone who visits these shows to spread the real truths of the scandal behind closed doors at Sea World!
