Directed by acclaimed photographer Anton Corbijn and based on Deborah Curtis’s "Touching from a Distance", Control is the story of the late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis’s life, from the band’s rise to fame to his tragic suicide. Starring Samantha Morton (Minority Report, Sweet and Lowdown) and Alexandra Maria Lara (Downfall, Youth Without Youth) and featuring an incredible performance from newcomer Sam Riley as Ian Curtis, Control documents the relationships with both his wife and his girlfriend, his battle with epilepsy and the road to success with his band, Joy Division. Featuring a score by New Order as well as classic tracks from David Bowie, Sex Pistols and Joy Division.
This film is outstanding.an breathntaking performance by sam Riley, who is like a ghost of Ian curtis.Sound track is fabulous.the actors in the joy division band are playing live, which gives the film the raw, shot in bueatiful black and white.its shows curtis as a lost soul, after marrying so young, old head on young shoulders.the love of two women, depression, epilesey, and not really wanting fame, curtis was a regular joe.based on his diaries, and the biography touching from a distaance,it stays very true.the director anton corban, also use to photograph the real ian curtis and joy division, thats why the film works.makes you wonder if ian curtis had lived, joy division would have been like u2.international fame.Even bono admits to been influenced by joy divsion.contains fantastic extras.a must for all joy divsion fans
