About the Film
No matter where you run, no matter where you hide...you can't cheat death. Or can you? In "Final Destination 5," Death is just as omnipresent as ever, first revealing its menacing reality to a group of coworkers headed for a corporate retreat. During the bus ride, Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto) has a premonition in which he and most of his friends, as well as numerous others, die in a horrific bridge collapse. When his vision ends, events begin to mirror what he had seen, and he frantically ushers as many of his colleagues-including his friend, Peter (Miles Fisher), and girlfriend, Molly (Emma Bell)-away from the disaster before Death can claim them. But these unsuspecting souls were never supposed to survive and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda.
Final Destination 5
The first Final Destination film is one of my favourite horror movies of all time. The survivors of a plane crash, suddenly start dying off as death stalks them. It was original, fresh and had some of the most unexpected death scenes i have seen, (the girl being killed by the bus). Final Destination 2 followed nicely from the first film, as again the survivors of a motorway pile-up get taken out one by one, by death in new ways.
But after this film the franchise started to go down hill, the third Final Destination film was getting far too predictable and i didn't enjoy the film. Then came the fourth film in the franchise, which is one of the worst horror films i have ever come across, and my faith in the franchise was lost in that film. But of cause it wasn't going to end at no. 4.
When i heard there was going to be a fifth Final Destination and in 3D, i though to myself what is the point. I will know what will happen and i will know the outcome even without seeing. But as i started seeing all the good reviews for it in the papers and in a few magazines, i though i might go an check this out. So i did, and i was completely blown away by the film.
The acting, ok wasn't oscar worthy, but was much better than the previous two films in the franchise. The storyline wasn't too bad, and the special effect were brilliant, especially in the destruction of the bridge. The 3D was excellent, and unlike The Final Destination (2009), it was used to a much better effect. Even as the intro begins for the film, you can tell that the 3D is completely different to the lame attempts in the fourth film.
But the thing that made the film for me was the twists in the storyline, the new and inventive ways of the death scenes, but most impressive aspect in this film was the ending scene. I have been a horror fan for many years now, and even i was surprised at how well the ending was done. Final Destination 5 restorted my faith back into the franchise and it is one of the best horror films i have seen this year. And to tell you the truth i am looking forward to seeing a sixth film, if they make one.
My rating for the Final Destination franchise:
Final Destiantion - 10/10
Final Destinaiton 2 - 7/10
Final Destination 3 - 5/10
The Final Destination (2009) - 1/10
Final Destination 5 - 9/10
GREATEST SEQUEL/PREQUEL EVER!!!
I have seen all the final destination films and I was worried about this one, but after watching it at the cinemas I was overjoyed on how good it was and how brilliant and clever the ending was, I can't wait for it to be released :)
Keep them coming!
