Awesome movie,awesome cars!
A must for fans of Grand Prix.
Fabulous movie, brilliant camera work, superb editing and a beautiful soundtrack. Never watched a movie with so much atmosphere.
This was the film that steve Mqueen wanted to make, but James Garner got the part and played it well. Mqueen struggeled for years to find this type of movie and eventually made Le Mans (deeply disapointing) Mqueen lived next door to Garner and after seening the movie complimented him on it.
Frankenhimer also struggeled to get the backing of Ferrari But after showing Enzo the first few rushes he gave him access to the factory to shoot a scene there. and gave full blessing.
For F1 fans who like the old days just look out for the famous faces especially Graham Hill. and Jochin Rhint. Jackie stewart famously refused due to his ongoing but rightly so safety issues at that time. But enough of this. If you are a fan of F1 from the old days this is just a must, the cars the racing the feel and sound. Just put a cap of Castrol R on the radiator and sit back and enjoy typical frankanhimer with this sort of close shots and full time speed only shown again in his later movie RONIN.
