Young orphan Pip is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. Moving through London’s class ridden world as a gentleman, Pip uses his new found position to pursue the beautiful Estella; a spoilt heiress he’s loved since childhood. Yet the shocking truth behind his great fortune will have devastating consequences for everything he holds dear.
It really is tiresome coming on here to read reviews only to find yet another whinger bleating about prices. iTunes do not set the price, the copyright holder does. And as far as I'm aware, press gangs aren't roaming the streets forcing people to download films. No one is actually compelled to buy anything if they find the price too high.
As for the movie itself, it's a superb retelling. Beautifully written, directed and played.
Great expectations dashed
Wonderfully worthy film, beautifully shot, good acting but just lacking any real passion. Watch the Ray Winstone version (which I think was made for TV) and is at least in my opinion superior, and a better watch.
Felt I should have liked it, just felt it was "worthy" rather than entertaining. Had I not watched the other version I think it would have fared better. Dickens was a great storyteller of his age, this I think did not do him, the actors or the sets justice. Everyone just seemed to go through the motions.
A beautifully acted and filmed adaptation of a wonderful novel.
