About the Film

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family, and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them. Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” helms the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics.

Customer Reviews

I went and saw this in the cinema !!! And I LOVED it, I will defiantly be buying this when it is available!!!! And I didn't realise it would be a musical, which is a added bonus!!! Probably my new favourite movie, defiantly recommend you see it!

Very fine

If you're expecting a cheesy child-friendly Disney movie, this is not for you. It is an adaptation of the outstanding stage musical of the same name, and has some dark themes (toned down for the movie) and the wonderful, distinctive music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim.

I recommend it.

I was really excited to see this film! It had all the makings of a classic: a great cast, good director ect.. Unfortunately this film is an utter and complete flop. The music sounded like it had been written by a 5 year old, the story line was rough and there was no flow to the film. I couldn't wait to get out of the cinema, and that's very unlike me. The acting was very disappointing too, but I put that down to a bad script - there wasn't much to work with. Please do not waste your time, there are plenty of better films to see!
