About the Film

Omar, a charismatic Afghan teenager, is at the precarious juncture of having his refugee status decided. The arrival of a boy from back home threatens to change everything. Forced into a position where the outcome may be the difference between life and death, his only options are to tell the unbelievable truth or to tell a good story. For Omar, and thousands like him who arrive alone and scared on our shores each year, the asylum system is a cruel game of chance.

Powerful indie from BAFTA winner Bruce Goodison

I was really impressed by this drama film (as I’m usually a documentary lover) and it’s way to capture the trauma faced by young people arriving in the UK unaccompanied. The film really opens your eyes to what kind of difficulties young people have had in other countries and why they come to the UK to seek refuge. I can’t imagine living through a war or violent abuse and it is nice to know that the UK is able to support some young people on to a better life. The film has a fantastic soundtrack by one of my favourite bands Alt-J. I would really encourage lot’s of young people to watch this film!

This film blew me away!!! I was not expecting it to have such an impact. Great performances from 3 unknown actors and of course the great Toby Jones. I loved it and I recommend this film, highly!! SO BLOODY GOOD!
