About the Film
From Disney and Producer Jerry Bruckheimer comes all the fun, epic adventure and humor that ignited the original. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. A tale of truth, betrayal, youth, demise — and mermaids! When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he"s not sure if it"s love, or if she"s a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. Forced aboard the ship of the most feared pirate ever, Jack doesn"t know who to fear more —Blackbeard (Ian McShane) or the woman from his past. Directed by Rob Marshall, it"s filled with eye-popping battle scenes, mystery and all-out wit.
On Stranger Tides
Pirates of the Caribbean one and two were fantastic, the third was OK but the story was just too much and the action wasn't particurly exciting apart from the opening 30 minutes.
This installment runs superior to the third but still isn't that great. It's been made purely to make money, and it certainly has. There are a few funny moments and some good action sequences, but it does slightly drag and without Keira Knightley, it lacks a sophisticated female lead as Penelope Cruze is a little dull as a character.
I would watch the first two more than once, but this and the third I would only once, it's OK, but not as good as the originals.
this is amazing film. and if i could rate it out of 100 it would be 100. i will recommened it to everyone who likes pirates of the caribbean.
Quite a letdown compared to the other films
There are a couple of good actors in this film, but it lacks what the other three films had. The storyline looked like it was put together overnight, and I just feel that the film and plotline are very rushed. I didn't see the relevance of the character Penelope Cruz, even though I love the actress herself I just felt that she was there for a bit of 'eye candy'. Johnny Depp's acting is flawless as always, and Geoffrey Rush was good too. The stunts were ok but they seemed like they were just used to fill in time.
Overall it was ok, but I wasn't gripped like I was in the other three films. And I think it was a bad idea to try and create another 'Will and Elizabeth' storyline- even if it is between a human and mermaid. I would rent it before you buy it, so you can give your own opinion.
