Customer Reviews

A Prequel, but not in the ways you may have thought.

I had waited a long long time to see this film, as ALIEN is hands down my favourite film of all time, its a Classic, hands down! So i'm not going to lie, on first seeing this i was expecting something completely different and yes, i was kind of baffled, and confused walking out of the theatre, and some what disappointed. Anyhow, after my frustration at the film, i started to think about it, and read into the mythos Ridley Scott has created, and after a lot of research, i've come to the conclusion that it is actually a very clever film. It has an incredible amount of religious nods through out , sacrifice is another heavily used aspect, its got loads of very deep under tones. There is a lot of stuff in there that is shown on screen, then its gone, with no explanation to what it was, but at the same time, thats what makes the film clever and intriguing, it leaves you with a lot of open ended, and unanswered questions. Don't go in expecting a direct prequel to Alien, because you won't get one, what you do get though is something quite different and unique, which slots in as a very worthy entry into the Alien franchise. Prometheus has its flaws, but its a beautifully filmed slice of top notch Sci-Fi with some great huge ideas, and will be joining the rest of my blu-ray collection as soon as its out. Roll on the Sequel, which Fox is already pursuing :D

Top film, its a must see. People who give 1 star for this film watch dirty dancing every day and cry.

A Modern day classic

I watched this movie at the cinema on the day of release after waiting over 12 months for it to come out. It's not like other Aliens movies so even for a fan of the original films it's very ambiguous but true fans will recognise the subtle simularitys with he original films. This really is a great film and I think it will proove to be as populare as the other sequils. It has action, suspence and a great storey that leaves you with a lot of questions and hungry for a follow up which I'm certain will be created. I won't give anything away of the plot but if your a fan or the original movies, this film wont be what you expet but you wont regret buying it.
