About the Film
Visionary filmmaker Christopher Nolan's sequel to the highly successful "Batman Begins," sees Batman (Christian Bale) as he raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as 'The Joker'(Heath Ledger).

I am in love with this film :D
Its by far the best superhero movie I've seen in AGES especially after the 3hour shambles that they called Spiderman 3 was inflicted upon unsupecting audiences. Yes, the smarty pants people will point out that TDK is pushing 3 hours but that time flew by when I was watching it. I had to go back and see it all again making it the first movie I have ever been to the cinema twice to see, it was that good. I admit I was one of the sceptical ones who assumed it was way overhyped because of Heath Ledger's death but I did come out of the screening with a very different point of view. Ledger was fantastic. My only reservation was Batman's voice...he totally over did it. I know Bale takes pride in his method acting stuff but this was a little bit over the top still he turned in a very good performance although he was overshadowed by Ledger's Joker. Now for the obligatory deconstruction supported with unconstructive analysis of iTunes' pricing policy... I'm not going to bother, but I do know that Tesco, Amazon, Play.com will have this cheaper and with some little freebie seeing as it officially comes out on 8th December which is only a few weeks away from Crimbo (yay!). Plus, this is ELECTRONIC, they are not going to run out of it so why 'pre-order'?? I never understood that about iTunes... I don't understand a lot in my life but this is not the place to discuss that.
This IS movie-making
According to statisticians we'll all be ditching this sort of movie over the next few months in favour of 'lighter' movies, with more 'feel-good' sentiment- because of the worldwide crash in the engines of economy, or 'credit-crunch'. Shame really, when I left the cinema after watching this film I felt, like I did after the 1st one, elated. Why I would need a romantic comedy to feel like this I don't know. Indeed when you think about it, going to the cinema and paying £8 to £10 to see this movie isn't right economically speaking, when you pay the same to watch something truly rubbish... like a rom-com, or something adapted from a musical. This is movie watching. This certainly is movie making. Hats off to Christopher Nolan, who doesn't know how to make a bad movie. Makes a mockery of all other movies I've given 5 stars to really, bar ..Begins. Through a wash of green filters we see a dark Gotham, we hear a dark symphony; a caterwhaul of discord whenever the Joker draws near like some cheeky vampire. Bale and Ledger move like the proverbial prize fighters throughout each set piece, with a little light relief thrown in from Two Face. This is movie laden with promise & demands.. and it ticks all the boxes as it goes and then some. Only one small thing which is not really worth worrying about, if I had to criticise: I understand the movie studios desire for a so-called 'love-interest', however audiences are not thick y'know. They can understand that some people might be motivated by something other than libido or saving the damsel. I'm not going to labour a point but the Anglo-Saxon bond between Batman & Joker serves well enough..
Not over-rated at all...
People have said to me that this film is over-rated because of Heath Ledgers death! However, this is not the case at all! I was completely mesmerized when watching the film & all the cast were brilliant in it! Now it is a shame for the person who has to become the new joker, because they will constantly be compared to the outstanding performance that Heath Ledger gave!!!
