Very Excellent

A veritable tour de force of an actioner. Benicio del Toro has rarely been better as the ex-special, special forces who goes native a la John Rambo (in the original) but does so with a great deal more finesse, and slowburning menace. The fights are mostly hand to hand, and are exquisite, such as when del Toro takes on some hapless hunters - out and about looking for deer - well it hardly seems fair; all del Toro has is a quirky, little hunting knife - the hunters have telescopic hunting rifles.. Tommy Lee Jones is is superlative as the man who trained the special forces and is now tasked with bringing his man back in, if he can. The chase is on from the woods to the urban, city environment. The film boils down to a manhunt with Jones chasing del Toro and boy what a chase; the contest between the two, to see who can make their knife before the other is cracking. Excellent. If you love action movies that are all about the action, then this is an absolute MUST.

Excellent

Never been a fan of Richard Gere but in this film he is excellent.

Not Great

Not great unfortunately, I found the story somewhat contrived and also of course you just knew what was going to happen in the end. I know a lot of films of this type can be quite contrived anyways however the better movies get away with it, this one simply doesn't. The action scenes are quite well put together, but they've not realistic (or at least based in realism like the Bourne movies etc.). Ok to kill 90 minutes, but not a memorable experience.
