Kevin Lewis never had a chance. Growing up on a poverty-stricken London council estate, beaten and starved by his parents, bullied at school and abandoned by social services, his life was never his own. Even after he was put into care, he found himself out on the streets caught up in a criminal underworld that knew him as 'The Kid'...
Really strong drama and great performances!
I read the book too and was really interested to see how they'd translate the story to film. Rupert Friend is great as Kevin, as is the younger versions of Kevin. This is a really heart warming story of triumph over adversity and although the film can be shocking - it has great drama and I couldn't wait to see the ending (won't give it away). Read the book and see the film!
Some sad hard hitting scenes
Over all a very good film
