About the Film

Based on the international bestselling crime novel by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø, The Snowman follows a homicide detective (Academy Award®-nominee Michael Fassbender) investigating the disappearance of a woman during the first snowfall of winter. The details of the case lead him to suspect that an at-large serial killer may be on the prowl again. Assisting the investigation is a hotshot detective played by Rebecca Ferguson. Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Let the Right One In) directs.

Good film

Just seen this at the cinema. I enjoyed it, whilst it was very good I did feel the story was a bit unorganised. Me and my partner were guessing who the killer was right until the end.

Plain, Boring and Tedious

Looking online and seeing all of these terrible reviews I thought there’s no way it’s that bad, but it was.

I was very much looking forward to the adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s novel, the trailer gave me chills making me think it would be one of the years best movies. However, the movie completely lacks in suspense and structure, with a flat performance by otherwise promising actors, dull scenes and an overall mashed up story that unfortunately doesn’t work, this film is a huge monotonous disappointment.

No-No Nordic Noir

A thoroughly unthrilling thriller. Even the actors looked bored as they amble through a muddled patchwork of confusing plotlines to climax in a dénouement that you wished had been reached an hour earlier. Numerous characters and subplots disappear almost as quickly as they are introduced, leaving you in a constant state of confusion. Performances range from 'Norwegian Wood' to a simply bizarre turn by guest star Val Kilmer. I expected to see 'Directed and Written by Tommy Wiseau' flash on screen as the final credits rolled. Truly awful. Do yourself a favour and buy the book instead.
