ANNCast is the official weekly podcast from Anime News Network, the internet's most trusted anime news source since 1998. Hosted by ANN's senior staff (each with over a decade in the business), the show is a laid-back, fun and frank discussion about Japanese animation, its audience and its industry -- often revealing secrets about how things really work. Guests include prominent figures in both the business of anime and the fan community.

Customer Reviews

Hopefully not indicative of the anime fanbase....

Self indulgent, jaded and uncomfortably elitist in an embarrisingly forced manner. Truly an abysmal podcast experience. The discussions related to appreciation of film in general were the straw that broke the camel's back. I was cringing with every " I'm a film student therefore I will tell you what makes good art" uttered. As a tribute to the self important tone of this show " I have a PhD but I certainly don't need to draw upon that to recognise this as an ego trip train wreck posing as an anime podcast".

I listen every week

I don't go to conventions and while I have friends who like anime/manga none of them watch/read it regularly, listening to the anncast makes me feel like a part of the anime community. It's very informative and the host Zac is entertaining to listen to.

My only warning is that while Zac is relaxed most of the time, he is pretty opinionated about some things to an annoying degree (even about things I agree with him on).

I'd say my favourite segments are when Zac and Justin Servaikas talk about what they've been watching.

I've been listening to the show pretty much from the very beginning and I still look forward to it every week. I can't really give it much higher praise than that.

Great show!

I consider myself lucky to have access to this podcast. If I ever consider watching an anime that has been reviewed in the past, I'll use ANNcast as the point of first contact. Entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work Zac!
