Brave Fencer Musashi – Cane and Rinse No.605
In the late 1990s, a swashbuckling and experimental Square released a Zelda-like action RPG based on historic samurai, Miyamoto Musashi. Why not, eh? Join Chris Worthingon, Brian, Dan and Leah as we look at whether the game (like the legend of Musashi himself) has stood the test of time.

Katamari Damacy series – Cane and Rinse No.604
Cane and Rinse is on a roll this week as Ryan, Jesse, Leah, and Chris take a twenty-year trip through the history of Katamari Damacy, from the PlayStation 2 original to the PS Vita conclusion and all of the spinoffs and delisted mobile games in between.
-
Hi-Fi Rush – Cane and Rinse No.603
A relatively up-to-date title for our latest podcast, and the second team selection of 2024. It's Hi-Fi Rush! Leon, Brian, Leah and Tony (who picked this game for the show) - along with contributions from the Cane and Rinse Patreons and forumites - get on down with Tango Gameworks character rhythm-action shadow drop banger.
-
Stacking – Cane and Rinse No.602
The first team-curated selection of the year goes to Double Fine's Stacking. Leon, Brian (who chose this one for the volume), Ryan, Tony and contributors from the Cane and Rinse community nestle into director Lee Petty's marvelous marriage of matryoshka and mystification.
-
Strider Hiryu – Cane and Rinse No.601
We're back, yet again, for our thirteenth year of podcasts, and we kick off 2024 with a look at a 35 year-old arcade stunner. Leon, Chris Worthington, Michiel and Sean dash and slash their way through Capcom's coin-op of choreographed set-pieces, Strider Hiryu. Along with contributions from the Cane and Rinse community, we also investigate Strider's precursors, ports, the spin-offs and successors.
-
Demon’s Souls – Cane and Rinse No.600
Wrapping up another year of Cane and Rinse podcasts, we revisit Demon's Souls, this time focusing on the PlayStation launch remake from 2020, put together by Bluepoint Games. Leon, James, Rich, Tom and community contributors drift about the Nexus, boasting of builds, strats and boss techniques. Of course we also consider the game's system-selling paint-job, and any aesthetic pros and cons that come with this comprehensive audiovisual 'glow-up'.
Customer Reviews
Phenomenal long form video game insight
As an adult, I am lucky to finish 2 games a year but whenever I do I check to see if that game has a Cane and Rinse episode. The discussion is insightful, thorough and entertaining. Often when I am struggling to pick my next game, I look at my unplayed episodes for inspiration. Even episodes on games I have no interest in playing are a joy to listen to such is the high quality of the show.
Great… Most of the time
As with most ensemble podcasts some members of the team are better than others but that’s personal taste more than anything.
This is often a great show but I just can’t stand the sanctimonious left wing sjw drivel they break out into every now again. You’re reviewing video games ffs, does anyone care what about what a podcaster thinks about “problematic themes“ in a 20 year old video game ? I know I don’t.
Keep up the good work !
Simply the best
Straight to the point yet incredibly in depth. The Cane and Rinse podcast is my favourite gaming podcast ever. Professionally produced and created to such a high standard you can easily listen to the latest episode or listen in to an episode from 2014 and it all sounds crisp and uniformed. The host and guests are both educated in the field of gaming as well as pure gaming fans which leads to an incredibly interesting show every time. My favourite shows are the console episodes that really get my nostalgia flowing through my veins. Great show guys and gals. Love it
