Bonjour à tous and welcome to Easy French Poetry where I read some of the most Classic French Poems. I will read them twice: once slowly - so you may repeat after me - and once at a more natural reading pace. I will sometimes also talk about the life of the author, explain the vocabulary or do an analysis of the text using simple, everyday French. You will find the full text of the poems accompanied by the audio on my website FrenchToday.com as well as much more audio material such as The Easy French Poetry Readings and Analysis series, Classic French Tales, French Verb Drills, reachable audio novels...

This podcast has introduced me to French poetry, and I am enjoying Camille's interpretations and her brief biographies of the poets immensely. This is a very well prepared and delivered podcast of the highest quality. Even for a beginner in French, it is accessible and enjoyable. Camille uses everyday French to explain the vocabulary and the poetic constructions that convey mood, she is obviously very knowledgeable and inspired by literature. Listening to the poems, I am struck by the beauty of the language. I hope Camille continues to offer these wonderful podcasts, they are superb.
This is a terrific way to improve your listening comprehension. You don't need to like poetry! The pace and level were just right (for me at least - an intermediate with about two years of adult learning). This is definitely the best way to improve that I have found on the web.
Unique and excellent
There are plenty of audio courses, and a number of podcasts, which aim to teach general French, with mixed success. Camille's podcasts stand out from the rest, not only because of the high quality, but also because she's very cleverly concentrated on one particular angle, rather than just "French". It's great to hear the poems and learn the vocabulary contained in them, but I find her discussions and descriptions even more valuable. It's a great chance to hear a French person talking freely, explaining difficulties *in French*, touching on a variety of historical, cultural and linguistic subjects. Put it this way... you don't have to sit through yet another list of "words to use in the railway station"!
