Dunaway, Jordan, and Ibbott generally keep Scott honest, but the latter undeniably is the glue that holds the show together.
Dunaway consistently gets the subtlety of a lot of the films being reviewed that seems to elude his teammates. But all work very well together and regularly take turns giving me new and added insight to films that I’ve watched many times and thought I had little to learn more of.
Perhaps the highest praise I can give is that I really enjoy this show despite their assassinations (albeit good humoured) of many of my very favourite films. If like me by the end of the shows you’ll find that many of the more jarring comments are actually pretty fair and deserved.
Good work guys, and thanks for the entertainment.
Grating
Probably the first podcast that I loved but things have went downhill with the blatant, constant contrarianism from Randy. The Flash episode was particularly grating.
“A lot of people criticised the CGI for the speed warp back in time, but that technology doesn’t exist so how do people know it sucked”
Sorry, what?
Overly long and annoying clip section
Whenever I watch a film from my collection I like to listen to a companion podcast that discusses the film in question. This means that I go through an awful lot of podcasts, predominantly they’re white American dudes (nothing wrong with that) However, I listened to the ‘Hatchet’ episode of this and man, it was a real effort. The hosts weren’t particularly engaging and there was an excruciating clip section that was literally random unfunny moments from the movie collated together. Will avoid in the future…
