Catching up

I listen to the World Service podcasts while doing something else that I'd rather not think about. (cleaning, filing, repairing... ) There I find the news I've missed all week, and wonderful word pictures that shrink the planet for me. They are a delight, faraway places I know are brought momentarily near, and unknown places and people have light shone on them.

World Today Select - the best world news podcast

This is really excellent. I listen to this every day to find out what is going on in the world, and to hear the most interesting takes on the news - the headlines and the stories of the people behind the headlines. In just fifteen minutes, I get the big stories and challenging analysis along with afantastic range of social and cultural news around the world. This is the perfect daily news magazine.

Must have for anyone interested in global news

A great way to spend the daily commute: 15 minutes of international news, in a fresh way - with interviews with the newsmakers, full of surprises: different angles from what you might otherwise hear, interesting stories you might otherwise miss, colourful short features from all corners of the world, presented in a professional yet personal way. I like like listening to "The World Today" on the World Service - but there are days when 15 minutes is all I have time for, and this podcast is just what I need.
