Important and timely
Great new podcast from a charity doing important work. Never been more important to oppose extremism of all forms.
The story of how the Wigan community was receptive to refugees once they were listened to and their concerns addressed really struck me as the most powerful part of this podcast. Because listening, empathy and respect are going to be core to bridge building the new insanely polarised communities we find ourselves with. I loved the humour at the end, referencing what opposers of Hope Not Hate have to say. I first heard about Generation Identity yesterday actually. I think it’s critical to recognise that the far right is organised, social media savvy and intentionally cultivating a youth following. So the idea that racism will die with the older generation is sadly wishful thinking. I’ve subscribed and I’ll be listening!
Hope Not Hate
Hope not Hate podcast is an excellent digest of the important work they do. They’re funny, nice and smart people and although the stuff they tell us is sad and scary, I’m energised and excited by their well-informed and successful campaigns against all forms of hate.
