Great resource for songwriters

This is a gift for understanding what it is about a well known song that makes it work, be it melody, harmony, lyric, rhythm, arrangement, groove, you name it.

It’s a great source of inspiration - just listened to the ‘Killing Me Softly’ episode and came away with ideas for:
- varying the chords in my next song
- ‘displacing’ the start of a lyric
- dragging a chorus to the start for one of my songs
- modernising an fashioned sounding jazz or bossa-nova song to something only a couple of decades old

Great show, thanks Kirk!

This is an entertaining and informative show looking at what makes great songs sound so good. I’ve found listening to it has helped boost my understanding of harmony, theory as a whole, and songwriting! I’d thoroughly recommend it
