Double edged sword

Great stories; if you're looking for another This American Life, then this it it ... with a caveat.

You do, unfortunately, have to put up with the hosts' nauseatingly smug and self-satisfied presentation, as well as their efforts to continually make themselves the stars of the show (learn from Ira Glass, girls; inject yourself into proceedings just 10%. Not 30%) If you've ever sat and talked to two excited student girls telling you a story about the hilarious thing they just did that was 'just SO funny' because they're just so crazy ... and you're waiting for something actually funny to be said ... then you know the kind of people that we're dealing with here. In the words of Mark Kermode, 'just a LITTLE kooky goes a long way.' I obviously don't know the girls personally and I'm sure they're thoroughly nice people etc, but geez, ladies ... your 'moment of nonsense' at the end of episode one might as well be title 'Hey guys, aren't we just MAD? Eh? Eh?'

However, all that being said, when the girls are just telling a story rather than putting themselves over, they are excellent at what they do, and so it's definitely worth gritting your teeth through the irritating parts. Hopefully this will smooth out as they settle into their show more. I've subscribed, anyway, so that should show that I recommend it.

fascinating and inspiring new thinking around known concepts

This is one of my favourite podcasts! Invisibilia does not only bring interesting stories but asks a bigger question with them that is intriguing. I especially recommend the episode on 'becoming batman'! I have a disability and I think everybody should listen to is :) also really loved the episode 'The Problem with the Solution'! So interesting and very personal (Lulu, it's amazing how you relate this to your own family and making this story so personal makes it even better). I hope there will be many more seasons to come!

NPR you beauty!

Alix and Lulu are a fantastic duo. These initial episodes are by far the strongest start to a podcast series I have ever heard (including Serial). Cannot wait to see what they come up with next!
