Description

Irreligiosophy means “the wisdom of irreligion” — it is about questioning dogmas handed down uncritically to us and researching into the history, practice, and theology of various religions. It’s about scrutinizing religious claims with a skeptical eye and placing them in historical perspective. But ultimately, Irreligiosophy 2.0 is really about arming atheists to wage the culture war with arguments and reason. We focus on Christianity because that is the religion that we are most confronted by in our daily lives, but we see all religion and all irrationality as threats to the continued advancement of knowledge, progress, and social justice.

Boney Moroni ?

I only began listening thanx to an appearamce on 'The Conspiracy skeptic ' and i'm glad I did. . Similar to Reasonable Doubts, Chariots of Iron, Dogma Free America it has 2 entertaining hosts and an understanding, irreverent attitude to the great pink pixie in the sky and its strange followers. The Mormon focus is fascinating. One gripe....when quoting texts etc the reading is often too rushed...slow down chaps !! A highlight of the week for me.

I Laughed Until a Little Bit of Wee came Out...

They're a pair of very naughty boys, are Charlie and Leighton. Charlie is a doctor, friend to humanity, selflessly healing the sick and saving lives, while Leighton is a professional Billy-Bob Thornton impersonator and poster boy for the politically-incorrect whose mouth probably fills up with water when it rains. They're also hosts of the funniest skeptic / atheist podcast there is. Their boundless immaturity is infectious, with the pair regularly corpsing on air at the sheer madness of the religious world view, which invariably sets me off as well, earning me some very strange looks from the denizens of my local (German) supermarket. I've just spent the last two weeks going through their back catalogue, and it's all quality stuff. Highlights: episode 37 (The flood didn't happen) and ANN (Atheist News Network, their current affairs-based subsidiary) episode 25, where they interview (and have a whale of a time with) Professor Ewa Wasilewska (probably the only professor of egyptology who you could safely go out and get s**t-faced with). A new highlight to my week in the broadcasting wasteland that is Germany.

Intelligently funny

A truly irreverent podcast that swings from the intellectual destruction of ridiculous religious dogma to the childish finger pointing and giggle fest at the more infantile religious beliefs of the rationally challenged.
