EP2 - Tony Law - Dealing with drink, drugs and substance abuse.

Hello and welcome to episode 2 of Laughter is the best placebo the podcast that hopes to shine a light on mental health one issue at a time. In this episode I am talking to comedian Tony Law about his struggles with drink and drugs and substance abuse and how that resulted in him losing gigs and blowing big opportunities like TV spots and tour shows. We covered how he got into comedy, why he got clean and the journey between the two.Quick trigger warning: As I just said, we'll be covering drink, drugs and substance abuse in quite a bit of detail. Those are the main triggers but truth be told there's probably more things in here that could trigger some people but I am going to assume if you're this far into the episode you realize the type of show it is and what you're getting into. If at any point you don't feel like you can listen any more don't. Quick disclaimer: NOBODY involved in this show is a doctor or medical professional. This show is not here to be a substitute for actually getting help it's meant to open up the discussion and make it easier for people to see that everyone has mental health issues. And you're probably not alone in yours and that it's very easy to chat about. If you'd like to talk to the growing community of pod listeners please do join the facebook group, just search for laughter is the best placebo on facebook obviously. https://www.facebook.com/groups/357795194656392/?ref=br_rsBut now, without any more delays... this is Tony Law.Links to things talked about in the show - Tony Law on ice - http://www.alexandrapalace.com/whats-on/tonylaw/Simon Caine's tour dates - http://simoncaine.co.uk/LaughterIsTheBestPlacebo

EP1 - Robin Ince - How he dealt with imposter syndrome.

GetIn this episode I am talking to English alternative comedian, actor and writer Robin Ince. He is best known for presenting the BBC radio show The Infinite Monkey Cage with physicist Brian Cox but for the purposes of this podcast the thing he’s most well known for is quitting stand up in 2015 as an experiment. Increasingly having to deal with imposter syndrome Robin decided to see if he could live without the one thing he always wanted to be and where his identity would be without it. Now he’s back performing and we met up to discuss the finding of his experiment and what we can all learn from his time out. This podcast is excellent, it deals with the topic of mental health in a light humoured way, while maintaining the seriousness required.
