We go inside addiction to speak to the friends and relatives that are #hurt by it. Discuss topics with addiction experts to see if we can #think our way to a greater understanding of why people are addicted. Whilst always supporting the #broken addicts to give them support.
||Clean#thinking - Its a family problem...||My guest on this episode of the podcast is Dr Robert Meyers who has been in the field of addiction for the last 39 years. His father was a heavy drinker and caused a lot of problems in his family home. This caused Dr Meyers to go on to create an intervention program that is now used worldwide to engage resistant substance users and encourage them to enter treatment. The program is called Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) which focuses on the family recovery as a whole not just on the substance user.||1 3 2018||Free||View in iTunes|
||Clean#broken - The darkness was taking over...||My guest today, Megan Starks, has spent 20 years in and out of addiction, interwoven with her spiritual journey. She finally got to the place where she was done. Megan is now over 8 months sober and writes a blog to help change the stigma around addiction. I started reading Megan's blog on Medium and loved it! So I got in touch to ask her to be on the show. Below are some of the life lessons I took away from our conversation.||25 10 2017||Free||View in iTunes|

||Clean#thinking — The most painful human condition…||My guest Annie Grace started drinking when she moved to New York at age 26 and became the youngest VP in a foreign exchange company. Her boss took her aside and made it clear that deals are done in the pub and at the bar. Annie did not fully understand the perils of alcohol, and did not even realise that alcohol was addictive at this point. So, as you would expect she started out drinking a glass of wine; fast forward 10 years and she was up to two bottles a night. After the alcohol, Annie transferred to smoking marijuana, because it was “healthier”. She would smoke marijuana, thirty minutes later she would feel down and therefore want to do it again, this lead to her smoking constantly throughout the day. ||Clean#thinking - It's all in the mind...||This week on the podcast we had guest Chris Hill, who is an author, trainer, and survivor of the addiction journey. His addictions started when he smoked his first cigarette at age seven. They continued to the point where Chris was taking crack cocaine and heroin 20 years later. The problem was he just couldn't see a way out. That was until he developed what he calls the 'self-talk' techniques to kick his addictions. He now teaches the techniques to others on their journey and has written a 7-day beat addiction plan. ||Clean#thinking - Why you over eat and what to do about it…||On this #thinking episode we go inside addiction with Glenn Livingston, Ph.D. author of the book Never Binge Again™. Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants. Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more lighthearted relationship with food.||16 8 2017||Free||View in iTunes|
||Clean#broken - Suddenly the alcohol took over....||On this episode, we had a slightly different format because my brother was the guest. We spoke about how it was growing up with a mum as an alcoholic and how that affected all our relationships. The ripples it caused through our lives but was nice to have a relationship of this nature on the show. -- To watch the video of this episode go to http://lisaa.uk||16 6 2017||Free||View in iTunes|
