BEST OF: Greek Island Hopping Cuisine

1 Year on from our 2019 Greek Island Hopping trip, this podcast talks about all the food we ate on our first island hopping trip back in 2018.

    In This Episode…

What are the essential dishes to try in the Greek Islands

We discuss highlights from our trip Greek Island hopping in the Aegean. Taking a small luxury yacht between hidden coves and quaint Greek waterfront villages, swimming in crystal blue water straight off the boat and sleeping under the stars.

Cooking classes and being cooked for on the boat. Our captain was also a trained chef which made the whole island hopping experience even more of a foodie trip.

Ouzo vs Raki, what’s the difference?

PLUS Greek seafood tavernas, we find a hidden gem on the Island of Samos.

    QUOTES:

“Apples: There are some 55 different species of apple trees, yet all 7,500 types of modern culinary apple come from a single genus (Malus Pumila) of wild apple, that spread from Kazakhstan over the last 6,000 years. Granny Smith, Fuji, Bramley, Coxes, Pink lady, Red Delicious and many more.”

"One of America’s biggest folk heroes, Johnny Appleseed, took it as his life’s mission to create new orchards across America. Unlike apple trees in the past, which were mainly grown from grafts taken from other trees that came from Europe, Johnny Appleseed, only planted new trees from seeds - as nature intended.
Apples have a unique DNA, more complicated than Human DNA. Unlike taking grafts from existing trees which clone the tree, the seeds can actually create genetically different trees compared to the parent tree. And seed planting led to increased bio-diversity and new American apple varieties.”

Great intro to history and food when traveling!

I have learned so much about the history of foods I love, but my favorite part is learning about new foods I can try while traveling.

Irritating and shallow

Had great hopes for this, but it’s just an irritating couple reading from Google with no new information or angle, whilst giggling insanely at their crass attempts to mispronounce foreign words.
