Fully Charged meets Just Have a Think | The Fully Charged Podcast

Joining Robert on the podcast this week is Dave Borlace from the Just Have a Think YouTube channel.

Dave was with us recently at our Everything Electric LONDON expo, and we just had to get him back here on the podcast.

Diving straight into how best we can tackle the climate crisis, along with the pros and cons of small nuclear reactors and off-shore and on-shore wind. We also learn what utter nonsense the WLTP range numbers of EVs are!

Robert also shares the scary fact that the area of land currently being used for golf courses in the UK, if used for renewables could more than satisfy the whole country’s energy demand, and rightly he asks “Do we want Golf or Energy?!”. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Once these two get started, they really are UNSTOPPABLE! We hope you enjoy this very entertaining and enlightening chat.

The pair also discuss the imminent tidal wave of Chinese cars about to hit US shores and what that means, as well as how our respective countries are managing with all the media FUD.

And as a little bonus, we’ve also included Ricky’s podcast with Elliot Richards from last year’s Fully Charged LIVE event in Farnborough for those who missed that, or who would like to listen to it again.

With Dr Euan McTurk, Consultant Battery Electrochemist

    EV Battery Boom?

Join Quentin Willson and Dr. Euan McTurk as they explore the latest in electric vehicles battery advancements. As a consultant battery electrochemist who has been working on - and driving - EVs since 2009, Euan is one of the UK’s leading experts on EV batteries, and most definitely has his finger on the pulse when it comes to emerging battery technology.

During this enlightening discussion, Euan shares the real story on EV battery fires and talks about some of the new battery technologies to watch out for, including solid-state batteries with their impressive range and safety credentials. Could these go mainstream sooner than we think? Quentin and Euan also share views on the battery industry as a whole, and what governments and energy suppliers can do to help the transition to these cleaner technologies.

Top quality discussions

All the content produced by Fully Charged, Stop Burning Stuff & Everything Electric team is just so good. Discussions about all kinds of clean energy topics, with real experts in their subjects rather than just someone who has an opinion on it.
Keep up the good work 👍

Love everything electric but not happy about food

Why bang on about food when nothing to do with everything electric? Especially trample on meat and push veganism. There is so much green washing about how meat is using so much water use and creating co2 issues. All animals (especially grass eating) use no extra water and methane is short life compared to CO2. If fact the grass takes up CO2 and the animals fertilise the grass. It’s a total circular system. Not like smoking fifthy ships bringing over other green washed products across oceans. Grass fed meat also gives the most vitamins and other essential elements. I got no issues with anyone want to be vegetarian or vegan. But not be pestering the rest of us with one sided green washing that meat is bad.

Feedback for the editors

I like the podcast, I especially like the host, Robert. However, I’d like to give some feedback. I notice Robert really likes to say “Yeah”, “Right” and other affirmative responses, as the the guest is talking. This is something I’d likely be inclined to do if I was him, but I find this to be quite distracting. I wonder if the editor of the podcasts could edit them in such a way to mute Robert whilst the guest is talking? It would make the podcasts easier and more pleasant to listen to.
