Finished with her initial work assignments, Torsten wants Vera to open up her own business beside his offices - perhaps a spa or an art gallery. Coincidentally, Vera stumbles over another job. The dead boy's mother goes to see the police. Does she know anything she hasn't confessed yet? Vera receives an anonymous package with a book chronicling the history of Ängelby. Is there anything there that might help solve the mystery of the dead boy? Vera's son Espen gets lost in the woods and when he is found, he has a troll made of stone. Although he could never read before, all of a sudden he reads an entire book on his own.

Torsten is still missing and won't answer his phone, so Vera goes to look for him at his cabin in the woods. Reports from the lab show that the dead boy Jesper had torn knuckles covered in small wooden chips. Who was he fighting with before his death? A tragic accident turns Vera's already muddled life upside down.

Amos and Viveka make an important discovery in Torsten's cabin. Did Vera really end up in Ängelby by coincidence? Therese and Calle continue their own search for Jesper's murderer. What kinds of feelings are brewing between Amos and Vera?

Could it really be true? Are Vera and Jesper cousins? Vera goes to see her parents to find out the truth. Therese gets Jesper's CDs translated into Swedish. Could they help in chasing down his killer? New discoveries are found on the field where Jesper's dead body was buried.

Vera and John bump into each other by accident and John tells her that the stone is responsible for Jesper's death. Vera, Markus and Jakob head over to the run down house that was their childhood home. There they try to find clues that can help them figure out more about their father's research into the nature of the stone. Eva seems to be keeping important information to herself.

Vera comes close to unravelling the truth about her biological parents. The massive building project is shut down when multiple, decades-old bodies are found buried in the field. More recently buried bodies are also found. Therese makes an important discovery about the mysterious boy on a bicycle that has been visiting some of the Ängelby inhabitants.

Vera lets Markus and Jakob know they are her siblings. Is Vera the one the village has been waiting for? Although her bags were packed to visit her family in Brussels, Vera cancels the trip. She seems to have a task that she needs to finish before she leaves. She just needs to figure what it is.

Vera, who is in mourning after receiving terrible news, gets an unexpected visitor. A frustrated Amos confronts Atlas and questions his plans. Rudi is on the loose and gets help from Britt-Louise. Therese and Calle's relationship grows more complicated because of their parents' business ventures. Rune and Åke gathers the people of Ängelby, but Eva is not convinced. Viveka starts to question Amos' agenda. The countdown has begun, but towards what?

Britt-Louise goes to the police with new information about Jesper's murder. While Amos seems to have lost his spirit, Viveka is still determined to keep working on the case. Rune and Åke pressure Eva to give them information. Britt-Louise is putting a nervous Rudi through hard work to prepare for his mission. Vera lets Markus and Jakob know what she has been up to these last few days. She finally knows what her task is, but the two brothers have different opinions on the matter. The people of Ängelby are not convinced about Vera's role in the coming events.

Conflicts are revealed as Ängeby prepares for the big day. It's time to pick a side. Rudi hesitates about his mission and a disappointed Britt-Louise asks for a final favour. Eva has high hopes while Jakob and Markus disagree on what will happen. Rune and Åke will stop at nothing to get what they want. Therese receives a visitor with a special request. Vera is shown how everything could go wrong, but she is still missing the final tool needed to fulfill her destiny. Everyone has been waiting for this day, but nothing will turn out the way they pictured it.
