Description

Where else within one extraordinary show could you hear Saint-Saens’ The Swan performed on Alpine cow bells, the Panorama theme played backwards, a Cockney take on Beethoven or the most glorious Belgian jazz spoof of the Doctor Who theme? Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra is a hilariously irreverent musical abundance of the surreal, the witty and the downright inspired. Recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall with the magnificent and versatile BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Anne Dudley, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this brilliantly comic new show.

Customer Reviews

Positively rubbish.

For me, this program was an utter waste of time and money. Bill can't sing worth a damn, can't compose worth a damn, has lackluster playing skills, spent a dispraportionate amount of time on the '70s soundtrack' and the 'cockney music' bit; and generally, should've thought more seriously about this endeavour. He should be ashamed to stand on the same podium as the orchestra, while they're preforming.

The biggest mistake for him, I feel, was to spend an unwarranted amount of time on certain bits; I reckon musical humour (I am a musician) works best in short snippets, the vaudeville piano, the cockney bit: all work great when used for 10-20 seconds. Use them for 2 mins +, however, and the simple joke starts to wear quite thin.

Tres bien!

really funny and makes you think. great for GCSE music students!

Very Funny!

A very funny show. Alot of Bill's old material is used, but there are alot of new jokes too. Watch it with friends on a night in. You won't be disappointed 
