Hit comedy Birds of a Feather returns for its third series produced by Retort and QuirkyMedia Stuff. The new series will once again star Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph as the original Essex girls Sharon Theodopolopodous, Tracey Stubbs and Dorien Green. In the first episode Darryl, Tracey’s ex-husband and father to Travis and Garth, has died whilst doing what he loved -burglary. Darryl’s passing brings the ladies together with some undesirable local characters, including Sharon’s would-be suitor, Lenny (Jamie Foreman), for a big Essex funeral. Martin Kemp guest stars as gangster Vince, who catches Dorien’s eye. Later in the series the ladies deal with a burglary which takes Dorien to a drag club to recover her stolen designer clothes; Sharon impersonates Tracey when Travis gets in trouble at school; and Tracey finally loses her patience with Sharon and Dorien, which could spell the end of the three ladies living together. Travis (Charlie Quirke) and Garth (Samuel James) still live at home with their loving Mum and the new series also sees a return visit by Auntie Vera (guest star Kate Williams). The series is penned by original writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, with Gary Lawson, John Phelps and Susan Nickson and is directed by Martin Dennis.
