The Young Ones, Series 1
Open iTunes to preview or buy TV programmes.
Loud, anarchic, surreal, juvenile and — most of all — outrageously funny comedy featuring the lunatic exploits of four students of Scumbag College: Vyv, the punk; socially aware and politically conscious Rik; Neil, the hippy; and Mike, the well-dressed smoothie. They share a dilapidated house in North London owned by their dodgy landlord Jerzy Balowski. They are the least compatible housemates imaginable and, when they are not tearing pieces out of each other, they manage to get involved in the most bizarre of comic escapades. PLEASE NOTE: We are using the raw, original broadcast material to deliver the most authentic experience we could provide. As a result, you may notice occasional glitches in video quality. This is TV the way it used to be!
|1||VideoDemolition||Depressed hippie Neil plans on killing himself, while Rick, Mike and Vyvyan ignore him. |2||VideoOil||The Young Ones move into their new house. As they are allocating bedrooms, Vyvyan locates oil in the basement and instantly forms a coalition with Mike to take command of the house (and oil). Mike discovers Buddy Holly in his new room.||32:35||£1.89||View in iTunes|
|3||VideoBoring||Despite a terrorist siege in their house, a visitation from a dwarf from Hell, skating vegetables in the sink and card-playing mice, the Young Ones are so bored that Neil is driven to dig himself a grave and Vyv chops his finger off.||35:06||£1.89||View in iTunes|
|4||VideoBomb||An atomic bomb falls through the roof and blocks the fridge. Mike plans to sell it to the highest bidder, while Neil paints himself white to deflect a nuclear blast and the TV licence man calls.||35:09||£1.89||View in iTunes|
|5||VideoInteresting||It's party-time! Where else can you mingle with the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, a giant sandwich, a singing tomato and Santa? Rik desperately tries to impress his favourite lecturer, Mike pulls a literal fairytale princess, Vyvyan's fellow punks start a riot, and Neil inadvertently gets beaten up.||31:53||£1.89||View in iTunes|
|6||VideoFlood||During heavy rains, London floods and the Young Ones are trapped in the house. When they embark on a game of hide-and-seek to pass the time, Mike finds a lion tamer in his bedroom and Vyvyan hides in a wardrobe and enters Narnia. But the sharks at the window and the arson attack on Rik's bedroom pale into insignificance when their landlord Jerzei Balowski turns into a homicidal, axe-wielding maniac.||30:30||£1.89||View in iTunes|

Stop Whinging About the Price - Review the TV Show!
I'm getting thoroughly sick and tired of people using the opportunity to review TV programmes and the like as a message board to whinge about the prices iTunes charges. Those of you that do this are skewing the average rating and, in a way, misleading fellow consumers. The Young Ones may be 25 years old, but remains the one of the most anarchic, contemporary and above all funny TV shows that this country has ever produced. I can only imagine how the starchy suits who ran the BBC at the time must have felt as this went on air (and at times openly criticised the Corporation). Absolutely fantastic. So the choice is yours - buy it from iTunes, buy it on DVD, or don't buy it all. But this is a classic at whatever price.
Legendary comedy in its time - it really was unmissable if you were young in 1982 - the question is has it aged well and the answer is, mostly, yes. Some of the political stuff is now quite passe (although "Take that, Thatcher" still strikes a chord) but the anarchic fun of it all is undimmed and some of the riffs are fantastically off the wall (mice playing cards, dogs talking). Most of all it strikes a chord with anyone who was ever a student. We all knew a Rik...
Best Comedy Series EVER!
If you don't buy this for the genius that it was, buy it for the amazing appearances of motorhead, madness and the damned!
