Russ Abbot and June Whitfield star in a comedy about three newly-retired couples. Suddenly faced with time on their hands, they approach life differently. Alan wants to slow down, Joyce wants to speed up. Trevor and Carol have got non-communication down to such a fine art, that if Carol spent a weekend away, Trevor might not even notice. Adventurous John and Maureen believe 60 is the new 40. However, there's a reminder of what's coming with Maureen's ever-present Mum, Joan. As they take a long look at who they've ended up with in life, do they want to spend the rest of it with each other?

It's actually subtle but funny
I get the impression the people marking this down have not bought it and probably don't pay their licence fee to watch it. Because if they sat and watched it properly they would see that it's calm and not full of filth and belly laughs on purpose. It's MEANT to reflect a certain demographic - therefore the jokes that fall from the incidents will inherently appear alien to those that are not a member of it. But with effort can still be appreciated.
We'll done BBC for trying something different with our older (but certainly not past it) members of entertainment society.
Brilliant and fun!
Absolutely love this! It's not offensive, or outwardly rude. It's very gentle and the humour is great. I love it because the friendship between these group of friends is wonderful and beautifully acted. I love the story lines and I have enjoyed getting to know these individuals. I have laughed at every episode and I love that it's not trying to be anything other than what it is. I think we can see a little bit of ourselves in each of the characters. I'm 39 years old and just love putting this on when I need to relax and switch off from every day life.
